May 18th 2012   Children Sermon    Yeshua is the Way

Hello boys and girls, please take a seat. I want you to look at what I brought today.

This first image is a world map

This second one is a highway map

Now there is no agreement between cartographers; yes Susie.

What is a cart do person?

Oh you mean cartographer. Well they are the people that make maps and since there are so very many of them there are no pacific marks and signs that are used to represent real world features on maps, which means when you are trying to read one you have to do a little investigating to see what each symbol means on the map you use so you know which way to go. If you are taking a trip you need to know how to get there and that is when a highway map would come in handy. You could look at the map, and decide the best roads to travel. If you are going from, say, Washington to Ohio there are several roads you may want to take. Each way would get you there while allowing you to see different sites. One might be a scenic route, and take longer while the interstate might be faster. Did you know that many people do not know how to get to heaven? It’s true. Unlike traveling from one city to another, there is only one way to heaven. Maps show us many ways to go somewhere while scripture shows us only one way to get to heaven. Listen as I read to you from John 14:1-4 "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if [it were] not [so], I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, [there] ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” So we see that Yeshua is the way to heaven; which means if we want to get there we must have a personal relationship with Yeshua the Messiah. The disciples were listening to Jesus tell them that he was going to return to heaven and prepare a place there for them.  Yeshua said He would return and take them there with Him. He let them know that he wanted them to be with him when they died on earth. When a person who trusts in Yeshua as Lord dies, their spirit leaves the body and goes to be with Yeshua in paradise.  Yeshua told the thief that believed in him and was hung beside Him on the , that he would be with Him in paradise that very day. We see this in Luke 23:43 "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Yeshua told the disciples that they knew where he was going and the way to get there. But poor doubting Thomas was puzzled. He said to Yeshua, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? He didn't know where Yeshua was going or how to get there. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Jesus told them that he was the only way to the Father in heaven. He stated plainly that he was the way, the truth, and the life. As God's only Son, Yeshua has been given power and authority over all of his creation. He is the true God. He gives life to all of us. When Yeshua declared that no man cometh unto the Father, but by me he made it plain that there was only one way to heaven and He was it. We must beware for there are many false religions in the world today claim to be the way to heaven. It isn't Mohammed or any other great prophet that holds the keys to heaven; only Yeshua is the only way. On your next trip or vacation, when your mother or father looks at the highway map, I want you to remember this lesson and know in your heart that Yeshua is the way.
